Cars This Engine Fits

  • Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution I to IX

Evo, DSM and Galant engines differ in intake, turbo position and sensors. We match by car and engine code so the Mitsubishi 4G63T engine for sale you get is the one that bolts in. The Evo X uses the different 4B11T engine.

6-Bolt or 7-Bolt?

Engines built from 1990 to about April 1992 are 6-bolt, with thicker rods. Engines from May 1992 on, including every Lancer Evolution engine, are 7-bolt. The flywheel and clutch have to match, so tell us which you have and we’ll match the right Mitsubishi 4G63T engine for sale.

Stock or Modified?

Plenty of 4G63Ts have been boosted and raced. We check for aftermarket parts, signs of high boost and hard use, and we tell you what we find. A healthy stock engine is the safest buy for a road car. For a build, a solid core matters most.

Fairly Used, Reconditioned or Rebuilt?

The price here is for a fairly used, tested engine. We can also quote a reconditioned unit with new belts, gaskets and seals, or a full rebuild ready for upgraded internals. Tell us your plans and budget and we’ll suggest the right Mitsubishi 4G63T engine for sale.

How We Test It

  1. Compression test on all four cylinders.
  2. Leak-down check where possible.
  3. Block and head checked for cracks, repairs and overheating.
  4. Oil checked for coolant, fuel or metal.
  5. Turbo checked for shaft play and oil leaks.
  6. Photos and, on request, video sent to you.

Every Mitsubishi 4G63T engine for sale on our site has passed these checks.

Signs It’s Time to Replace Yours

  • Low or uneven compression, or a failed leak-down test
  • Bent valves after a timing belt failure
  • A spun bearing or knocking bottom end
  • Cracked ring lands from a bad tune

Boost leaks, a tired turbo or a bad sensor can often be fixed instead, and we’ll tell you if that’s the case.

Who Buys This Engine

Most of our 4G63T buyers are Evo owners replacing a damaged engine, builders who want a strong core, and DSM and Galant owners keeping older cars on the road. Workshops that build Evos also buy regularly. Tell us which camp you’re in and we’ll suggest the Mitsubishi 4G63T engine for sale that suits your plan rather than just the dearest one.

What a Healthy Used 4G63T Looks Like

  • Even compression and low leak-down
  • Clean oil with no milky colour or metal
  • A turbo with little shaft play and no wet oil in the compressor
  • No cracks or weld repairs on head or block
  • Normal crankshaft end play

Workshops and Repeat Buyers

A lot of our 4G63T orders come from workshops that build or repair Evos and DSMs. If that’s you, ask about ordering more than one engine. Shipping several together usually lowers the freight per engine, and a spare core on the shelf means a customer’s car isn’t stuck waiting for weeks. Repeat buyers can ask to hear first when a good Mitsubishi 4G63T engine for sale comes into stock, because Evo engines in particular don’t stay on the shelf for long.

Fitment Details We Need

  • Car make, model and year
  • Chassis code (for example CE9A, CN9A, CT9A)
  • 6-bolt or 7-bolt
  • Manual or automatic, AWD or FWD
  • Stock or modified, and your power plans

Fitting Tips

Pass these to your mechanic when your Mitsubishi 4G63T engine for sale arrives:

  • Fit new timing and balance shaft belts, tensioner and idlers.
  • Prime the turbo with oil before first start.
  • Clean intercooler pipes if the old turbo failed.
  • Fresh oil, filter and coolant.
  • Use a tune that suits the engine, and keep boost low while it beds in.
